Our aim is to create confidence for you to speak in many different situations, such as family celebrations, eulogies, awards presentations and work presentations.

Call to Order

Sergeant-at-arms starts the meeting

 

President’s Opening Remarks (2min)

 

 

Chairman (1 min)

Introduces each speaker and ensures the meeting runs according to the agenda timing.

 

Apologies (1 min)

Formally record those who have sent an apology.

 

Program Alterations

(2 min)

Allocate vacant assignments.

 

Welcome (2 min)

Welcome members and guests, give some background information on Toastmasters and set the atmosphere for the meeting.

 

Grammarian (2 min)

Present a “word for the evening” for use in assignments.

 

Toast (2 min)

Pay tribute to something which the meeting will identify with in the form of a mini speech.

Speech Toastmaster

(55 min for entire session – variable)

Conducts the prepared speech session – introduces the speakers and the evaluators to put them at ease in front of the audience.

 

Speaker 1, 2 & 3 (5-7 mins – variable)

Deliver a prepared speech in accordance with the guidelines as set out in the speech manuals and within the time limit allowed.

 

Evaluator 1,2 & 3

(2 min each)

Provide useful, honest and helpful feedback to the speakers – noting their strengths and weaknesses and providing encouragement and praise.

Master Evaluator

(5 min)

Evaluates assignments which have not been evaluated and comments on the overall conduct of the meeting.

Sergeant-at-arms starts the meeting.

 

Humour Spot (2 min)

Gives you the opportunity to speak with humour –  relax about the content and concentrate on the delivery.

 

Business Session (5 min)

Reports are presented by the Club Officers and any motions before the Chair are debated according to parliamentary procedure.

Table Topics Master

(20 mins for the session)

Introduces the impromptu speaking session.  This session develops quick and creative thinking with a 60 second response to a topic.

 

 

Evaluators (odd and even) (3 min each)

Provide useful feedback to the table topics speakers

Listening Post (2 min)

Provides a list of random questions based on what has been said in various segments of the meeting.  The questions are posed to the audience generally to check listening skills.

 

Grammarian Report

(2 min)

Comments on the use of the “word” and the use of language and grammar during the meeting.

 

Listening Post (2 min)

Improves and tests listening skills by preparing questions from what is said during the meeting.

 

Timer Report (2 min)

Comments on speakers’ ability to stay within time allocations and assists in running the meeting to time.

Master Evaluator (5 min)

Evaluates assignments which have not been evaluated and comments on the overall conduct of the meeting.
